Bad news for European carriers in ASEAN. After the decision of Air France to close its Paris-Kuala Lumpur flight from the coming winter season, this is now the German national carrier Lufthansa which reduces its presence in Southeast Asia. The airline decided to terminate the service from Kuala Lumpur to Jakarta in continuation of its operation between Frankfurt and Kuala Lumpur. With this service changes, LH will operate Frankfurt – Kuala Lumpur terminator flight, on board Airbus A340-300 aircraft, offering five non-stop frequencies.
Meanwhile, Malaysia Airlines announced also to stop serving Paris from Kuala Lumpur with the Airbus A380. The daily frequency will be served from August in a Boeing 777-200ER. This translates into a reduction of 200 seats per day between Paris and Kuala Lumpur. By early November, total capacities between both cities will have been reduced from over 20,000 seats per month (July 2015) to approximately 8,500 (November 2015), down by 57%.
