Thai Airways International Hires Ex-chief Of Oman Air

Finally, Thai Airways International will justify the term “International” in its name. Until today, the airline is one of the few in the world which has no foreigners working in its headquarters at management level. The fact that Thai Airways is a state company makes it very complicated to hire a foreigner, according to official explanations. However, looking at the past, Thai Airways used to be part of Scandinavian Airlines with Swedes working at that time with Thais.Today, in a global world, it is hard to conceive that an international carrier would not have any foreigners integrated to an airline’s management structure. Thai Airways International (THAI) is now moving on and just hired the former chief executive officer of Oman Air, Wayne Pierce. Credited to have turned around the small regional carrier of Oman into a growing competitor in the Gulf Area, Wayne will take a position of commerce and marketing adviser to Thai Airways CEO. The announcement was done by TG board chairman Areepong Bhoocha-oom.
