GRABBIKE NOW IN FOUR CITIES IN SOUTHEAST ASIA

After Hanoi, Ho Ci Minh City and Jakarta, this is now Bangkok which enters the age of motorcycle taxi service ordered on mobile app. The Malaysian taxi-booking app GrabTaxi launched its newest service a few days ago in Bangkok, offering a THB35 discounted single price up to the end of August as a tool to make its service better known from the public. In Jakarta, the service-launched in May- gave free rides during 10 days.

The service is to be booked on mobile phones which accept the app and is a complement to GrabTaxi, an extremely popular application to order taxis which are available in many Asian cities.Passengers or people wanting to send or collect a parcel can locate the nearest available motorcycle in less than 10 minutes. The app provides name details and the fare.

The first kilometer is charged THB35, the same price than a taxi for the first kilometre. Then passengers will fetch THB15 for each kilometre. In comparison, department regulations set traditional public motorcycle taxi service at 25 baht for the first two kilometres and five baht for each following km.

GrabBike plans to recruit motorcycle drivers with yellow number plates of Thailand Land Transportation Office in order to be legal.
