The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is organising a special event to strengthen the recognition of Thai silk and to honour Her Majesty Queen Sirikit’s continuous contributions to the conservation, development, and promotion of a wide variety of Thai silk to international awareness.
Mrs. Juthaporn Rerngronasa, TAT Acting Governor stressed that “Thanks to the continuous support of Her Majesty the Queen of Thailand, Thai silk has not only been well-preserved, but further developed to fit with the modern lifestyles, too. This event aims to elaborate such significant contribution and let the world know of the legendary beauty of Thai silk.”
Highlighted activities will be staged at two venues: Parusakawan Palace on Ratchadamnoen Nok Avenue on 14 August between 17:00–20:00 hrs, and a special two-week exhibition at the Siam Paragon Department Store from 17-30 August . This will showcase Thai silk fabric from five leading silk production centres in Thailand, demonstrate the unique Thai silk weaving techniques especially the most famous Yok Thong Thai silk from Surin province.
There will also be mini fashion shows of top-quality Thai silk clothes created by leading Thai and international designers. The event is getting support from the Support Arts and Crafts International Centre of Thailand.
