- New low cost flight from Bali to Sydney and Bali to Melbourne by Indonesia AirAsia X from IATA winter season 2015.
- Tigerair Australia will take over Bali routes from Virgin Australia
Indonesia AirAsia X is due to enter an already saturated air market between Bali and Australia from this coming IATA winter season. Indonesia AirAsia X announced that it will start to fly five times a week from Bali to Sydney in direct competition with Garuda Indonesia, Jetstar and Virgin Australia. Introductory fares for the new route will start at AUS$199 one way in economy class and AU$ 399 for a premium flat bed seat. The carrier will fly the route with an Airbus A330-300 with 377 seats.
The carrier is also due to launch a Bali-Melbourne route, which will start in December 2015. Indonesia AirAsia X will propose five flights a day also in an Airbus A330-300.
Financially battered Virgin Australia has also announced to transfer all of its flights between Bali and Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth to its low cost affiliate Tigerair Australia. The transfer will be effective from IATA Summer Season at the end of March 2016.
