Until now, gambling was limited to a handful of places in Vietnam. However, Vietnam Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung just announced that gaming would be allowed for foreigners at international airports.
The information has been communicated by the business magazine Vietnam Economic Times: slot machines are soon to make their way into terminal buildings at Vietnam international airports- Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Danang. The machines will be made available only to foreigners and will be located in isolated areas in air terminals.
The Office of the Government released last week thedecision from Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on gaming being made available to passengers exiting or transiting at Vietnam’s international airports. The PM agreed to slot machines being located in isolated areas of airports. He also assigned the Ministry of Transport to strengthen leadership to develop and improve the quality of services at airports to meet the increasing requirements of passengers.
The Ministry of Finance (MoF) will collect comments from Deputy Prime Ministers and leaders of ministries for inclusion in a draft decree amending Decree No. 86/2013/ND-CP from the government in July 2013 on gaming for foreigners.
