Created in 2011, Clover Hotels is one of the first Myanmar hotel chains targeting clearly budget conscious travellers in cities. Conceived as an urban boutique hotel, each Clover Hotel is ranked in the three-star category looking at offering contemporary comfort to affordable prices. And it works. The first property was opened in Yangon in Bahan Township, not too far from the iconic Shwedagon Pagoda as well as Kandawgyi Lake and Inya Lake and has enjoyed occupancy rates of 90% and even more as the country opening generated a flow of tourists but also businessmen.
The first property encouraged then his young owner, Nay Zaw Aung. to look for more properties. So far, the three first Clover Hotels are all located in Myanmar former capital Yangon. The second property, Clover City Centre, is extremely located, just close to the Shangri-La Hotel and the Sule Pagoda. It opened in 2012 and was followed a year later by another property, the Clover City Centre Plus is located in the same street but targets more long-stay guests. The two properties also enjoy occupancy of over 90% during the high season. In total, Clover Hotels Group offers slightly over 200 rooms in the former Burmese capital.
The company is now working at opening a fourth property in Yangon in the middle of this year. The property will be the largest of the group with 153 rooms. In its first development phase, the hotel offers 33 serviced apartments and 20 hotel rooms. Clover Hotels Group is now looking to widen its horizon. over the next 15 years, Clover is looking at having 10 properties and starts to search for new land in Mandalay and Bagan.
