Than Son Nhat International Airport, the main air gateway for Ho Chi Minh City is improving services for passengers. In the last two months, two public bus lines have been operating to Saigon city centre. They link both international and domestic terminals to Le Lai/Le Duan streets in Ho Chi Minh City centre, stopping in the vicinity of the main hotels. Both services go up to Ben Thanh market, where most of the hostels for backpackers are located.
The busses are brand new Korea-built vehicles while staff has been trained to be service-friendly and English-skilled. The new Bus N°49 stops in front of more hotels with a flat rate of VND40,000 (US$1.80) and was launched today. The Bus service N°109 offers two rates – full rate of VDN 20,000 or VDN 12,000 for a few stops. The bus covers a distance of 10.5 kilometers between Tan Son Nhat Airport and September 23 Park.
Both busses offer counters at the airport with staff providing details, timetables and advices about Ho Chi Minh City. The ride takes on average 40 minutes due to the heavy congested roads of the metropolis!
