After Hoi An, Danang, Hue and Halong, Ho Chi Minh City is now looking to offer free Wifi hotsports all across Southern Vietnam metropolis. This would be a major change for travellers in Vietnam’s most popular city for tourists.
“I can’t disclose all of the details at this time,” said Mr Tuyen to Voice of Vietnam agency. “However, I can say that the Committee will make an announcement shortly on a new service supported in Vietnamese, English and other foreign languages”.
In 2012, Hoi An was the first urban district to provide free Wi-Fi system at 350 hotspots, and it has been a highly successful undertaking. It has seen been emulated by other cities in Central Vietnam such as Hue and Danang.
According to Tran Vinh Tuyen, Ho Chi Minh City will now follow on their footsteps and expand the limited number of free Wi-Fi hotspots currently available and put them at all of the popular tourism destinations including temples, historical sites, hospitals and major shopping centres. This could be turned into a reality before the end of the year. Meanwhile, visitors can still enjoy free wifi in most cafes, restaurants and hotels of the Southern metropolis.
