It will be anything but cheap with special room rates for the opening being sold around US$290 a night. But it will also be the ultimate in luxury. When Sanctum Inle Resort opens its doors on October 1, the property will be the first luxury hotel to be located on the shores of Inle Lake, one of Myanmar’s most iconic destinations.
The hotel will have only 94 rooms and suites and will offer many outstanding facilities such as an infinity swimming pool which will overlook Lake Inle, a 150 sm2 presidential suite as well as two restaurants – including one of the few outlets in Myanmar serving true Shan food.
Talking to the specialized website Hotelnews, the resort’s general manager Philippe Arnaud indicated that “In a region long closed off to the wider world, we’re opening the doors on an experience of accommodation that celebrates removal and contemplation,” he said . “Our location invites this sort of mind-set, and our design does, as well.” The hotel architecture is largely inspired by local construction mixed with a Spanish inspired style with many arches offering a protected promenade around the resort.
The resort offers four room categories from 40 to 150 square meters, all being equiped with air conditioning, cable TV and free wifi. The spa is likely to be a big hit for the resort. Sanctuary Spa is home to five treatment rooms and offers a multitude of therapies including its signature Tamarind Scrub with tamarind harvested inside the property. The hotel will also offer package tours around the resort, including bike tours, trekking, as well as the visit of local wine production or to some of the region’s most famous temples.
