Vietjet Opens More Connections to Taiwan

Anticipating further growth between Vietnam and Taiwan, Vietnam low cost carrier Vietjet announces to launch two new routes connecting Taipei with Hanoi as well as Kaohsiung with Ho Chi Minh City. The carrier will also increase its flight frequency between Tainan and Ho Chi Minh City to five weekly flights.

Vietjet is expected to priopose to passaengers four routes between Taiwan and Vietnam by the end of this year. Vietjet will then be the Vietnamese carrier with the most destinations to Taiwan.

Vietjet Vice President, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Binh said, “Since our inaugural flight of Taipei and Ho Chi Minh City in December 2014, Vietjet has operated nearly 1,300 flights between Taiwan and Vietnam and carried more than 173,700 passengers. We recently opened the second route to Taiwan connecting Tainan with Ho Chi Minh City, emphasizing our commitment to Taiwan’s “Go-South Policy”. With the new services to Taipei and Kaohsiung in the coming months, Vietjet is proud to be the airline that serves the most destinations in Taiwan, looking to ease travel and interaction of Taiwanese and Vietnamese travellers, especially business travellers and investors of Taiwan in Vietnam and generally in South East Asia.”

The Taipei – Hanoi route will be operated on a daily basis from October 30, 2016 with the flight time of 2 hours 45 minutes per leg. The flight (VJ946) departs at 19:00 and arrives in Hanoi at 20:45 (local time). The return flight (VJ945) takes off from Hanoi at 14:15 and lands in Taipei at 18:00 (local time).

The Kaohsiung – HCMC route will be launched on December 12, 2016 offering five return flights a week on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. The flight (VJ876), which lasts 3 hours 30 minutes per leg, departs from Kaohsiung at 08:15 and lands in HCMC at 10:45 (local time). The return flight (VJ875) takes off at 02:10 from HCMC and lands in Kaohsiung at 06:30 (local time).

The Tainan – HCMC route will also be boosted to five return flights a week on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from October 30, 2016 with a flying time  of 3 hours 15 minutes. The flight takes off at 15:45 and lands at 18:00 (local time). The return flight leaves HCMC at 10:30 and arrives in Tainan at 14:45 (local time).
