Thai AirAsia is launching a new route from its Phuket flight base with a daily direct flights to Siem Reap in Cambodia. It will be the first time that an airline has ever offered this connection. Thai AirAsia remains confident that international travellers will cherish the opportunity to fly between two of Southeast Asia’s most popular destinations. The new route is being introduced at a promotional fare, starting at only THB 1,490(USD36) per leg. Booking is available now to 2 October 2016 for that price, for travel starting from November 7 until October 28, 2017.
Tassapon Bijleveld, Chief Executive Officer of Thai AirAsia, explained that Phuket and Siem Reap are both world renowned destinations, especially among Americans, Europeans, and Asian travellers, as each offers its own unique potential. By becoming the first airline to offer a Phuket-Siem Reap route, AirAsia believes it can stimulate tourism at both locations and bring ASEAN ever closer together.
“AirAsia’s intention is to create the most extensive flight network and to open up new opportunities in ASEAN,” Mr. Tassapon said. “The Phuket-Siem Reap route perfectly encompasses all of our goals. The latest flight allows everyone in Phuket to travel to the World Heritage City that is Siem Reap to experience the awe-inspiring Angkor Wat and the equally impressive Bayon, not to mention Siem Reap’s one-of-a-kind nightlife.”
At the same time, the route is sure to draw travellers—Cambodian, but also an important expatriate community—from Siem Reap to Phuket to enjoy its vibrant culture, its cuisine, as well as stunning ocean views and its wide range of entertainment.
Thai AirAsia currently operates the most flights within ASEAN, flying 15 routes to 7 countries. The airline’s three daily direct flights from Bangkok to Siem Reap show on average a 85% to 90% load factor and are among AirAsia’s most popular routes within ASEAN. The carrier also flies twice daily to Phnom Penh.
