Northeast Asia is the next target for Jetstar Pacific, the Vietnamese affiliate of low cost carrier Jetstar Airlines (Qantas Group) with Vietnam Airlines.
Danang-Hong Kong is Jetstar Pacific newest route and its third international destination from Central Vietnam following flights to Taipei and Singapore. The route stands in competition with flights from both Cathay Dragon and Hong Kong Express.
Jetstar is also planning to expand to Mainland China with frequencies to Guangzhou. The carrier announced to launch a daily flight from Hanoi and five weekly services from Ho Chi Minh City. Both will start next December. The carrier will also operate three weekly flights between Danang and Taipei from December.
Danang is one of Vietnam’s most promising markets for international airlines as the city enjoys strong growth in tourist arrivals. Last year, total number of international tourists in Danang increases 31.6%, reaching close to 1.7 millions of tourists. Danang flight activity is turning increasingly important for the low cost carrier.
According to Jetstar Pacific General Director Le Hong Ha, Northeast Asia is a potential tourism market and the opening of the routes will provide more opportunities for travellers to explore new lands in the region. The carrier expects to open more markets in Northeast Asia, exploiting 38 routes and contributing to promote tourism growth.
In another development the carrier is also launching a new domestic route, linking Haiphong in Northern Vietnam to Dong Hoi in Quang Binh Central Province. Jetstar Pacific will offer three round-trips per week.
