Resorts World Genting in Malaysia has been embarked into a revamp exercise of its resort to attract new generations of holiday makers.
Among the new projects for Malaysia largest resort with a casino -actually the only one in the country- is the premium lifestyle mall SkyAvenue. With 60,000 square meter, it boasts five levels of shopping, dining, entertainment andnight life experiences.
Of the 70 food and beverage outlets spread across three floors, many are exclusive to Resorts World Genting, such as the first Cafés Richard in the world, southeast Asia’s first Burger & Lobster, and Malaysia’s first Motorino.
SkyAvenue mall shopping experience will have more than 160 brands running the gamut from fourth to ground floor when it is fully opened by the end of 2018.
And a new operator within the mall will be now a giant duty and tax free shop, planned to be jointly operate between Genting Highlands Resort and Dufry International AG. A shareholders agreement has been inked between the Malaysian operator and the Swiss-based Dufry Group. The joint-venture company to operate the shop will be 51% owned by Dufry.
The latter is a global travel retailer with operations in about 62 countries comprising more than 2,200 shops at touristic locations such as airports, railways and cruise liners.
Complementing the shopping at SkyAvenue is the Genting Highlands Premium Outlets at Awana. The first hilltop Premium Outlet Centre in Southeast Asia – and the second in Malaysia has 150 designer and brand name stores, offering savings of 25% to 65% daily.
They are more plans in the store for Resorts World Genting which will further strengthen the appeal of the destination located in the State of Pahang. A theme park, Twentieth Century Fox World, willboast 25 rides and attractions, based on movies such as Rio, Ice Age, Life of Pi, Planet of the Apes, Alien vs. Predator and Night at the Museum. There will be thrill rides for both children and adults.
To ensure easy access to all the new attractions, Resorts World Genting has made the entire journey to the resort easier and more enjoyable with a new cable car system, new bus terminal and thousands of new parking lots.
The advanced Awana SkyWay offers visitors a spectacular 10-minute ride up the mountain, with an option to stop by Chin Swee Temple along the way. Passengers in the glass-floor gondolas can also enjoy a breath-taking bird’s eye view of the 130-million-year-old rainforest below.
With all the new infrastructure and attractions, Resorts World Genting is transforming itself into the resort of the future. The resort management expects to welcome some 30 million visitors per year by 2020, both domestic and international. last year, Resorts World Genting welcomed 22 million visitors.
