Philippines New Travel Show to Highlight Culture and Ecology

The 1st Green and Gold Tourism Travel Mart (GGTTM) will be held at the Bonifacio High Street of Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Taguig City on May 4-6, 2018.

Philippines Association of Tour Operators PHILTOA fully supports the objectives of the United Nations World Travel Organization (UNWTO) as enshrined also in the Philippines’ National Tourism Development, in declaring 2017 as The International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development.

The 1st GGTTM intends to showcase of eco-cultural tourism products highlighting the involvement of community based tourism activities:

Green Tourism

Nature Tourism – Activities related to nature : canopy walk; mangrove ride; glamping, bird watching; research and study tours, photography/videography, garden tours, farm tour, animal encounters like whale-shark , dolphin watching, game fishing, firefly watching

Ecoadventure tourism – Strenuous activity that may require good physical condition: trekking, mountain climbing, camping, hang-gliding, bungee jumping, white-water rafting, surfing, scuba diving, ocean kayaking, canyoneering ; river trailing etc.

Agro-tourism– Sightseeing and visit to farms, plantations, and orchards with activities like, pick and pay, instructional activities farm immersion like growing, harvesting, and processing of crops and produce.

Gold Tourism

Ethnic tourism – Tourism activities for the purpose of observing cultural expressions and lifestyles of indigenous communities at its rawest form.

Cultural tourism – Experiential trip visiting communities, participating in their vanishing lifestyle activities like cultural immersion tour or festival tour, Kulinarya series program.

Historical tourism – Travel, emphasizing the glories of a country’s past like “museum tour”, “The last kilometer of Dr. Jose Rizal”; Westem Visayas Heritage Trail; CAMANA Tour, the countryside tour of Metro Manila; Philippine Artisan Program; Fiestas and Festivals.

Faith tourism – Travel for a religious purpose like pilgrimage tour (Marian pilgrimage, Divine Mercy; UNESCO’s World Heritage Stone Churches); Philippine Islamic Trail; Halal Culinary; Holy Week Program.

Health and Wellness – Trips to study or experience local medical practices; Western/Oriental Medicine combined; Traditional Wellness Program; Basic Medical Care Program.

The organizer has also lined up activities, to be held at the center stage of the Purok Balangahai Exhibition area to further support the community based tour offering and promote a sustainable preservation of our culture and heritage.
