Singapore is the only city in Southeast Asia to welcome the Broadway-hit musical Aladdin, which already attracted some ten million people around the world since it started in New York in 2014. This will be the final stop of the musical show in Asia.
Singapore is making headlines again as it will host Aladdin, a spectacular production from Disney which will be staged at Sands Theatre inside Singapore Marina Bay Sands Hotel complex. The show is due to start on July 21 and will run at least until September 1st. In case of success- and there is little doubt about it- the musical would be extended for a couple of more weeks.
Disney has always been renowned for its commitment to excellence on stage and Aladdin is considered as one of the best production ever crafted by Disney teams! The production boasts a cast of 34 actors, actresses and dancers while the show will line up staggering numbers. Just talking about the costumes for example. The cast is wearing 337 glittering outfits –it means that they change on average 10 times-, which feature 1,225 different fabrics, 712 different styles of beads and almost 500,000 Swarovski crystals!
The technical aspect of the musical is also a performance per se: 40 tonnes of exotic flying scenery and 60 tonnes of automation and staging are on their way to the City State using more than 40 sea containers to recreate the city of Agrabah including the colourful marketplace, the palace of the Sultan and his daughter Jasmine as well as the legendary Cave of Wonders. The musical offers plenty of amazing special effects. They are 84 during the two-hour and a half performance and they will definitely contribute to the magic of the show…
