A groundbreaking ceremony took place on August 9 for Vientiane future attraction : Lan Xang Cultural Park, a theme park stretching on 88 ha of land. The facility will be developed by a private Vientiane-based company, the Lan Xang Cultural Park Development Co Ltd.
The developer is set to invest an initial capital of US$80 million for the future Lan Xang Cultural Park which will be Vientiane’s largest tourism attraction. Stretching on over 88 hectares of land, the park will be located in Dongsang Hin village, Saythany district, Vientiane Capital. The village is only 16 km away from the capital. It will take nine years to develop entirely the Park in three successive phases.
The site will include a Luna park with all traditional carrousels and attractions. the Lao-based cultural park, botanic and zoological gardens, a shopping centre and hotels, as well as housing facilities.
The agreement for the land concession was signed in Vientiane in March. Lan Xang Cultural Park Development Co Ltd. will manage the facility for a period of 50 years with the possibility to renew the agreement. The first draft for a cultural park started in 2017 with Lan Xang Cultural Park mother company, Ocean Co Ltd, launching a fesasibility study.
“Initially, work on construction of the amusement and water park is slated for completion within two years, followed by the official launch of services, and then the rest of the project will continue, based on the proposed plans,” declared Mr Khonekham Intavong, General Manager of the Park declared.
The groundbreaking ceremony was held in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Sonexay Syphandone, Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Bosengkham Vongdara and representatives of relevant authorities.
